Post Broadway Restaurant Suggestions
 

I'll be in New York at the end of July with
my boyfriend. We have tickets to "Hairspray" and would appreciate suggestions for an
intimate restaurant to enjoy a romantic dinner afterwards. Something within walking
distance would be a plus! Thanks!

On restaurant row (46th betw 8th & 9th) there are several places that fit your request:
Italian
Orso-excellent & very hard to get a reservation
Lattanzi- also excellent
Barbetta-probably the most attractive of the Italians in a townhouse with an outdoor patio-but at the end of July, perhaps a bit warm for outdoor dining

Firebird is Russian (caviar) and also in a beautiful townhouse setting.

For a great view, try Foley's Fish House in the Renaissance hotel at 7th betw 47-48

I agree with mclaurie's recommendations of Orso and Lattanzi. Both are excellent.

I third the suggestion of ORSO- It is Killer!! on a little side street...
FABULOUS gourmet Italian food!

I've posted this before, but if you walk up Eighth Avenue, on 56th Street between Eighth and Nineth is an Italian restaurant named Bricco that has excellent food at affordable prices.

Also, if you walk to Nineth Avenue and then walk uptown, there are lots of inexpensive restaurants, from Chinese to Indian to Thai to Brazilian to a great hamburger joint and much more. Most are quite affordable.

I said it before somewhere else. I can't recommend enough the DB Bistro Moderne. It is on 44th between 5th and 6th Ave. (closer to 6th Ave and easy walking to all Broadway theaters).

The DB stands for Daniel Bouloud (sp.) who happens to own the best French restaurant in the City, Daniel. This Bistro is less expensive, but believe me, it is no slouch! You'll want to look good and expect amazing food! Oh yeah, it's not as expensive as Daniel, but be prepared to pay.
