Possible to drive from Vegas to Sedona to Grand Canyon in one day?
I'm contemplating an early morning drive to Sedona from Vegas - do a hike at Oak Creek Canyon? - have lunch - and then drive to Grand Canyon arriving around early dinner hour. Is this possible/recommended? I really want to see Sedona but only have a day to squeeze it in.

it is an 6hour and 14 min. drive from the Mccarran Airport in LV to Sedona and about 2 and a half hours to the Canyon from Sedona.. planning on the same trip only staying over night in Sedona and doing the Pink Jeep tour and on to the Canyon after that..if staying at the canyon plan on having resrevations in advance..

We just came back from a trip where we drove from Las Vegas (we were on the Strip) to Sedona. It was about a 5 1/2 hour drive (we did stop during that time a couple times). It is a nice trip - but, if you try to follow your scenario, you'd need to leave LV really early, plan to arrive in Sedona at about 9:00 or 10:00 - hike a few hours/eat lunch and then go to the Grand Canyon. I think you could do it - but I don't think you would really enjoy it. You would probably be pretty tired. I do think, however, that you could leave Las Vegas, drive to Sedona and see the scenary (just driving around the place is amazing) - have some lunch, then head up north to the GC. It wouldn't add too many hours to your trip to the Grand Canyon (assuming that you are going to the part that is north of Sedona. It was so gorgeous in Sedona, that I would probably at least get a drive through and a lunch there if I were in the area. Just a thought....

We drove from Las Vegas to the Hoover Dam to GC to Flagstaff to Sedona in 1 day. It was a marathon. We checked out of our hotel in Vegas and picked up the rental car at 9am and hit the road. We did the short tour at Hoover and then drove down to GC on a road that was like driving on the moon. Nothing on either side except high desert and telephone poles. We reached the GC by 4pm and drove along the rim and stopped at a number of lookouts. It was cold at the rim of the canyon in May. We left GC at dark and drove through the reservation to Flagstaff, where we arrived around 8:30pm and ate at a brew pub there, which was very good.
From there, we drove from Flagstaff down to Sedona and arrived at our hotel around 11pm and were left with a full day to spend in Sedona.

We drove to Flagstaff from LV late afternoon. Arrived there in time to spend the nite in a 'notel motel' to save money. Next morning drove to Sedona entering via the dirt road at Munds Park Exit from I-17. There are few more spectacular scenes than the view of the Red Rocks with the sun at your back as you round that final curve at the top of the mountain. Highly recommend it at that time of day. (I was very disappointed when I made the same entrance in the afternoon on a subsequent trip.)
We did not hike but just drove around the area and then to the Grand Canyon via Oak Creek Canyon Drive. We then spent the night in Williams on our way back to LV. We had plenty of time to see the Canyon, but I question whether you could do it in one day with hiking on the adjenda.
