Possible relocation to Memphis
My husband may be taking a job in the Memphis area and we need info on where to live. We would like to be in a suburb and live on a golf course. Any information on Germantown, Collierville, Cordova or any other upscale community is appreciated. We are looking for a home in the 300-500K range.

where are you from?
i only ask because "300-500K range" will yield very different results in different regions. i would guess that $3-500K would get you a lot more house in memphis than it would in, say, my part of the country (DC/Baltimore). oh, and sorry, dont have any memphis info! |
The only golf course community in Memphis is around the TPC Southwind course where they hold the annual St Jude Classic. The homes are very nice but you should be able to find something in your price range. The cost of living in Memphis is substantially cheaper than say cities in the Northeast or West Coast. I really love the pace and the people in Memphis. Good luck!

Don't live in Memphis but travel for business frequently. My coworkers all live in the Germantown, Collierville or Cordova area. From what I can glean from the conversations I've had with those who have relocated, Germantown is more expensive than Collierville. Collierville is more recently developed and you get more for your money there. Schools in Germantown are excellent but many send their kids to private schools. Germantown is a very pretty place, older more established.

Friends moved to the three areas mentioned. No complaints.
I have fallen in love with the rambling old brick neighborhoods near the zoo and the Pink Palace (children museum) |
I've read about Cordova Country Club and Spring Creek Ranch. Are there houses on these golf courses? If so, what price range can we expect?
