Positano right by the beach or higher up?
Looking to stay in Positano for three nights for my honeymoon. Please tell me which is better, a hotel right by the beach or a hotel higher up with better views? I will have a car and would be able to drive around. Please help!

Ooops...sorry! I am new to this but thank you very much. Would love to know where you stayed and if would recommend it. When you say 200 steps...what does that mean in terms of hotels? What would I look for?

Hi,
Part way up (my pick) check out Hotel Buca di Bacco http://www.bucadibacco.it/
Further up, check Hotel Villa Franca.
Best wishes.

I spent a week just south of Positano about 6 years ago. I agree about staying slightly higher up. The city hugs the steep cliff walls and it is amazing. The beach is rocky. Be wary of Capri - can be grossly touristy so have a good plan if you take the ferry over. Skip the caves tour. Go up on the island instead. Do expect many people to know English so brush up on some key Italian phrases.

Wrong forum, but we went there last year for 5 nights and were totally bored after 3. We only stayed 3 nights in Capri but should have stayed 5. Who knew... Positano, we stayed at Hotel Anchora, right next to Le Sirenuse. We got tired of all the walking up to the hotel, the smelly streets and gas fumes, and the horribly overcrowded busses. Capri on the other hand was a dream... Different strokes.

I stayed at the Miramare .. I would recommend this as a small, midpriced (for the town) hotel, with great hostess .. Rosita is wonderful ... anyway, there is sooo much more info on the Europe forum ... good luck .. The Amalfi Coast is the most beautiful place on earth IMO ...
