Can anyone recommend a good seafood restaurant in Portsmouth, MA? Moderately priced and up preferred, or less if its known to be good.

Do you mean Portsmouth Maine (ME)? I have never heard of Portsmouth Massachusetts (MA).

Lots of good places.

I like Jumpin Jays Fish Cafe and Pesce Blue. Depending on when you're going, the Ferry Landing is a good seasonal place.

If it's summer and you want a lobster roll sitting at a picnic table, we like the Ice House in Newcastle (go past Strawbery Banke and follow Rt 1B, picturesque drive). Although we might only get there once a year, we've been going to Newicks on Dover Point Rd (between Portsmouth and Durham) for over 30 years. It's a big paper plate kind of place but it's on the water. Fast service but they can be crowded. Lots of fried seafood choices but also broiled and non-seafood. A friend who lives near Portsmouth prefers Brown's or Markey's in Seabrook. Very rustic, indoor picnic table kind of place. They're across the road from each other. I think the area around Newicks/Great Bay is wonderful. Newicks, Browns, Markeys are open year round.
I have yet to get to Jumpin Jays but have heard great reports. Check to see if it's open for lunch.
