Portland's Downtown Market

I know the big one is on Saturday and Sunday, but I thought I had read there is another one on Wednesdays/Thursdays? If so, could someone please verify; unfortunately my first (and maybe only) visit will not be on a weekend. Thanks.

You mean Portland, Oregon? It has several markets, the most well-known being Saturday Market on weekends. But there are several farmers markets all over town different days of the week. The Portland Farmer's Market is open through October twice a week including Wednesday afternoons between Salmon and Main downtown.

LV, I'm not a big fan of the Saturday market anyway. It's a bunch of hippie crafty junk, not quite art, and definitely not a flea market.
The Portland Farmer's Market described by Andrew is quite fun though.

I'd say Saturday Market is worth a look if you are in town on a weekend, but you will find more tourists than local there these days. I once tried to get signatures for a petition there (not one of those ballot measure things - yuck!) and almost everyone told me they were from out of state! Same day I went to the Farmer's Market and got plenty of signatures there.

I have pondered the idea of maybe selling some of my pictures at Saturday Market, but there are a number of other photographers there with beautiful stuff and I would hate to have to compete with them...

Thanks alot for the scoop, Andrew and bbqboy! Would the Farmers Market be at SW Salmon & Main Sts. near the river?
