I took the train from Seattle to Portland last fall and really enjoyed it. Amtrak's Coast Starlight has an observation car with seats facing big picture windows, so you get a great view.

When I was in Seattle, I took the ferry to Bainbridge Island for the day and loved it. A really nice little downtown to walk around. And I had a great view of Mount Rainier on the way back.

I also took a trolley tour in Seattle that went through different neighborhoods. Some beautiful old houses, old Craftsman-style architecture.
