Portland or Seattle?

My wife and I plan to visit the NW at the end of May. Never been to either city. We have allocated 4 days for this trip. Which city would you recommend considering this time limit?

Both are beautiful cities, 4 days would be a nice introduction to either one.

I'd probably pick Seattle, but you can't go wrong with either one.

Haven't been to Portland but heard it is beautiful. Been to Seatle. Lots of fun. If you go, try to take a day to go to British Columbia to see Buchart Gardens. An amazing place. It is worth the trip. (forgive my spelling). Enjoy your trip

They have unique personalities, Seattle is the larger of the two. But both offer a terrific combination of urban activities, restaurants, parks, museums, and beautiful surrounding country-side with great scenery, wineries to visit, hikes to take, rivers or lakes.

Do you plan to rent a car?

I like the vibe of Portland a lot and there's no tax. You can reach the mountains or beach in an hour. I like Cannon Beach. Depends on your interests and both have great food. Portland's downtown is more central with NW Portland being a boutique kind of area complete with nice dining. The Pearl District is the same and close by. Lots of antiques, shopping, museums. Seattle has downtown and several neighborhoods with the boutiques and dining. You have to pick one. Seattle has the Sound and ferries if that interests you. Baindbridge is a quick ferry and a nice experience. I'd sort of decide what kinds of things you want to see and how you want to spend your day. Both have nice waterfronts.
