You have good suggestions so far. A few more...
The Sentinel Hotel recently had a $6 million makeover and is gorgeous. Right by MAX, streetcar and foodcarts.
The Heathman Hotel is a historic hotel and is well situated. Public spaces are beautiful. I know less about the rooms. The restaurants are always strong. Recently they had a re-model and landed Vitaly Paley, one of Portland's best chefs.
Hotel Lucia--above Pazzo Ristorante--is also considered one of the nicer hotels in Portland. I've been in the rooms for a wedding, but it's been a long time.
The Hi-Lo Marriott opens in May. Location is good. Supposedly repurposing an old building, making it look modern. I'm not sure you should try it in June (1 month in) but surfergirl might want to price it for August.
