?Portland Maine
Got a free airline ticket from Midwest Express, we are looking to travel to a state that neither of us have been to before, need to use before the end of June...thinking about flying into Boston and driving up into Maine and maybe staying in Portland or Kennebunkport, any suggestions on dining or hotels on the way? We only would have 4 nights,5 days.

This is in a very quiet beachside community about 20 min drive to Portland and 25 min drive to Kennebunkport. Recommended only if you are looking for beach and quiet. The earlier in June the better, as Maine gets very crowded after June 25 or so. |
We stayed at the Pomegranate Inn in Portland. Definitely recommend it. I think it is nicer than staying in a large hotel. Located in a nice residential neighborhood within walking distance from downtown Portland. Great breakfast! We've also stayed at the Portland Marriott, which is nice, if you are looking for something larger & livelier. They have a nice breakfast buffet, & serve complimentary snacks & drinks...in the fall, cider & cookies.

I think thats a great choice. Portsmouth NH and York Beach ME are pretty towns. Best meal I ever had was a steak dinner at Kennebunkport Inn. Portland has a real waterside New England flavor that isn't overly touristy.
