Portland Area Suggestions

My wife and I are headed to Maine for the first time and are staying in Biddeford. We are only going to be there for a long weekend. What is there to do during the winter in and around the Portland area.

We are going to visit many of the breweries in the area (love beer).

We would like to try snowmobiling and/or any other activity that is enjoyed in Maine during winter.

I'll take any suggestions.

I'm betting that the vast majority of viewers saw your thread title and thought, "There are a thousand threads out there about Portland (Oregon) - do a search" and went right past it.

How about sharing the details of your trip, so others won't be left in the cold like you were?

Thanks!

Really enjoyed Maine.

1st day: rained all day and was foggy but it made for some cool pictures along the coast. Had some dinner and drinks at Federal Jacks Brewpub in Kennebunk.

2nd day: snowed most of the morning and was very cold and windy. Again, it was cool for pictures along the coast. Drove from Biddeford along the coast to Portland and stopped at each lighthouse we could find. Had lunch and drinks at Gritty McDuff's Brewpub and then headed to Freeport to see what all the outlet shopping is all about. It was fun walking around the shops. On the way back to the hotel, had a bite to eat and some more drinks at Sebago Brewing.

3rd day: drove back to Portland and did a brew tour with Shipyard Brewing. Had lunch at $3 Dewey's and of course, more drinks. I had one of the best beers ever , Bar Harbor Blueberry. On the way back to Manchester to fly home, we drove down the coast through many small towns.

My wife and I loved the area and can't wait to go back. Since we went in the winter, most of the places were closed but we made the most of it. I think I actually liked it better because it was not over-run with tourists.
