Port Orleans Riverside Disney

Hi Everyone! I have a quick question regarding Port Orleans Riverside. I'm a college student and my mom is a teacher, so we decided to do a long weekend trip to Disney World over Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend. We booked a room at Port Orleans Riverside and I requested we stay in the Magnolia Bend Mansions section (because I think it just looks so pretty!). They said they could not guarantee this but would make note of it. I had the choice of reserving a Water View room or a King room since all the standard rooms were taken. So I am hoping someone could help me and tell me would it be better to book a Water view or King room to have a better chance of being placed in the Magnolia Mansions section of the resort? She said Water View was like a pool view and I wasn't sure if this section had any pools etc since I have never been! If you think I have a better chance with a King or Water View room to get into the mansions area, please let me know your opinion! Thanks so much everyone, I appreciate it :)

First of all - King room or water room will increase your cost. For water view, you'll be looking at the canal called "Sassagoula River" as you have to cross the bridge from Ole Man Island to get to the pool.

See the resort map at http://www.disneyworldlinks.com/Reso...eansRiverside/

Magnolia Terrace (Building #85) is my first choice of mansions buildings at Port Orleans Riverside because of the proximity to the bridge that takes you to Ole Man Island (pool) and over to the main building/food court area. It is also close (to the rear of the building) to one of the bus stops.

When you look at the resort map, you'll see that the the most of the buildings have limited water views. Going with the king room will probably give you a better chance at getting your building choice. However - since it is you and your mom, wouldn't you prefer two double beds to sharing one big bed? Going with a standard (2 beds) room is your best chance at getting your building choice.

Do you have a good touring plan to help you make the most of your time? Holiday weekends tend to be busier than other times. Also, January typically has shorter hours, fewer parades, and Disney is cutting down on Fantasmic performances at Disney's Hollywood Studios. You'll want good information to be sure that you get to see & do all the things that are important to you. We've had this company help with your plans: www.buildabettermousetrip.com

It was free when we booked the trip through them.

Thank you aj for your very helpful response! I actually was booking the room a few weeks ago and all they had left was king or waterview rooms all of the standard rooms had been booked for the weekend. I ended up choosing the waterview room for your reason exactly, that my mom and I would prefer our own beds! I did call and request that we be placed in Magnolia Terrace, even if our chances are slim to none I thought why not give it a try! I will definitely check out the build a better mouse link. That sounds like a good idea to look into having them help us with our plans. Thank you so much again, I really appreciate your help :)

Since you mentioned your mom was a teacher, I just wanted you to know that she can get a teacher rate at the Swan and Dolphin. I didn't know if you had your heart set on Port Orleans (I've never stayed there), but we have stayed at the Swan and it is walkable to Epcot and MGM. Just thought I'd mention it. Wish I was going!!!!

oh really? I didn't know that!! One year, (a while ago) my family stayed at the dolphin and loved it. I will definitely check into the teacher rates, thank you for letting me know! that's great!
