Port Authority in Manhattan, New York
Am going to Prague in March and need to find the cheapest way to get to and from JFK from Manhattan. What would be my best options. I don't necessarily need the quickest route, just the most cost effective. Thanks for any info.

The cheapest way to get to JFK from Manhattan is to take the A train and get off at Howard Beach stop in Brooklyn. From there they have free shuttle buses that take you to the terminals. Cost is $1.50 and the trip will probably take anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half.

For a little more convenience, there is the New York Airport Shuttle. Roundtrip is $23 and it leaves from Penn Station, Port Authority, Grand Central Station and several midtown hotels. Their website is www.nyairportservice.com

I do not remember the the name of the bus line that you can take but anyone at the terminal can direct you to " the bus that takes you to manhatan.

Joel -

You're thinking of Carey, they are the operators of the Airport Shuttle (sometimes called Airport Express) that Philip mentioned. They are the same thing. For only one person, and going to/from a hotel it's very convenient because it's door to door. For more people, or from some other location, ir might be better to either look into a van or taxi.

Howard Beach is in Queens.

Telling people to take the A train to get from NYC to JFK can get them lost. There is an A train that goes to Lefferts Blvd and an A train that goes to Far Rockaway. The Far Rockaway train is the one that stops at the Howard Beach Station.
