Politically Incorrect Map?

Is there a guide book with a map of cities and towns where it is dangerous to stay and walk around? I am leaving from LAX in a rented RV and was going to drive to Las Vegas and stay overnight when a friend told me there are parts of town where it is dangerous to stay. Now how would I know this? We are a family of four and are going to the Western States and now I am wondering what to do about staying in an RV. Any ideas, besides staying home? Thanks.

There was a great website called apbnews.com which focused on crime and safety. Unfortunately, they went bankrupt. You may still be able to access older data.

They had a mapping feature which allowed you to look at crime on a neighborhood by neighborhood basis within a city or state. They had some really interesting articles about crime near stadiums and near colleges.

Try a search on the LAPD or California state website. Search using the phrase "Crime Mapping". Or go to a search engine like Yahoo and type in Los Angeles Crime Mapping.

Most Crime Maps will show density of crime within a different neighborhood. It is a tool that most police departments now rely on.

Thanks, I put in crime mapping in google and came up with some interesting sites, but I couldn't find one like a map. But I will keep trying.

Are you talking about the crime in Las Vegas? If so, I'm not sure about the statistics, but I've been to Las Vegas many times and have seen several RV parks. They are in town and LOOK well kept and decent. Maybe contact KOA Campgrounds for some more info. Also, I believe all hotels in Las Vegas have RV parking, but no hook-ups. Have a safe trip!
