Point Reyes- Please help w/lodging
 

Hi, guys!
Trying to book 'late in the game' a weekend at Pt. Reyes. Places we've stayed before, our sold out for Saturday. And, since it's my hubby's b-day, it would be nicer not to have to move. (booking last minute, since my mother had surgery, not long ago)

Anyway, with what I've come across...I'm not finding any places will really refer to others. So, if anyone here has stayed at any of the following....please, please share your reviews! Thanks so much!

Blackthorne Inn (Inverness - a bit more expensive, unfortunately) :-{

Pt. Reyes Station Inn (near town of PRS)

An English Oak (near Olema) Bed & Breakfast

Roundstone Farm (near Olema)

not sure yet of availability...haven't gotten call back's....

Gray's Retreat/Jasmine Cottage

How about Manka's Inverness Lodge? Probably sold out, but worth a try.

We stayed at the Blackthorne when it first opened. It was very pleasant. I would pick Manka's, and if you can't stay there, try to at least eat there.

Last July we stayed at the Point Reyes Seashore Lodge, which was very nice. The grounds at the back run down to a little creek, and there are Aidorondack chairs set out for relaxing. We saw quail, 2 baby skunks, a large variety of birds, and two deer within the space of an hour as we sipped our lemonade and ate tea cookies.

Thank you for the replies! The Seashore Lodge mentioned here, is unfortunately, sold out. And, Manka's prices have gotten really up there. We stayed there years ago, in the main building. What's available when we're going is close to $400/night & they have some cabins over $500/day! These would be high rates, even in a very remote area...or lodging-limited area. However, for a region like this, it's hard to justify such rates.

I'll look more into the Blackthorne, then...it's rates too are more than I'd hoped for...but, will ponder it some more. Appreciate your time offering reviews! :-)

Anybody else who has recommendations....feel free to share, as well...
for others besides just me, will benefit when researching this topic. (as there haven't been *that* many recent lodging reveiws for Pt. Reyes) Thanks again!

In addition,our neighbors love the owner
and return often.
Pt.Reyes is a favorite place of ours.
We find our selves out there about twice a month-rain or shine!
I would choose it for a birthday-hope your hubby's is a happy one!

I gave them a call...had to leave a msg, which is common...so will wait to hear back. Keeping fingers crossed! Our other option is to do one night at the Seashore Lodge & then, move. Not ideal, but maybe we should? Could then just walk over to dinner for his b-day, at the Olema Inn. Nevertheless, it's just not 'ideal' for just a 2-nighter....

Manka's also has 2 new cabins not on the website that are less expensive. We had a nice stay in one called 1-2-5 a few months ago, which was Manka's owner's former guest cottage. It went for $315 through the week, more on week-ends tho. Smaller than the others, but we liked it, fireplace, big deck w/ hot tub and situated high in the trees, like a tree house backing onto the National Forest.

The other one, Perch, up the hill was the owner's former home, a little larger, but no hot tub. About $40 more than 1-2-5, really nice. Both very private and off-site a few blocks from the lodge.

At this late date, they could be booked, but who knows, you might luck out??

We have stayed at the Roundstone Farm. Very lovely, nice, clean, quiet, great breakfast. We also love the Sandy Cove Inn. They took a year off, but I heard they were opening again in March. Both places were great.

Sandy Cove, looked like a fantastic possibility, once we started thinkin' about this, weeks ago. However, they're still unreachable...w/the telephone disconnected, no replies from email, etc. Seems they may have gone out of business. Too bad.

Wow, Perch has gone up! We almost booked it for $345 during the week last October. Add $50 for the week-end, still that's not even $400. Now I really wish we had taken it then. It's so lovely, but...good luck with your search, have a nice time.

A friend recommends Dancing Coyote Beach, a line of attached cottages.

Thank you, but Dancing Coyote was also all booked.
Only choices open seem to be:

Abalone Inn

maybe, Roundstone (need to check again)

and the Blackthorne place, which sounds intriguing, but is quite a bit more $$

and, Ferrando's Hideaway Cottages

You might try up the coast a bit which could still give you short distance to travel to Point Reyes. Try Bodega Bay Lodge, The Tides and The Inn at Valley Ford.
