Please Recommend New Orleans Bourbon Street Hotels

We've decided to stay at the brand new Loews New Orleans Hotel which looks *incredible* for our first three nights in New Orleans.

For the last two nights we'd like to stay directly in the French Quarter maybe even on Bourbon Street?? We'll be there on New Years Eve. I realize it will be noisy. Please recommend some nice clean places to stay right on Bourbon Street if possible.

Thanks!

We wanted to be on Bourbon also and we wanted a balcony room. We realize it will be noisy, but we wanted to sit on our balcony with drink in hand and people watch. However, New Years might already be booked. The Inn On Bourbon (its a Ramada) is wrapped around Bourbon and Toulouse Streets and when I called last week they had balcony rooms on Toulouse available. The phone number is: 1-800-535-7891 and their website is: innonbourbon.com

We enjoyed our stay at the 14 room Lafitte Guest House, at the "quiet" end of Bourbon St.

DEFINITELY the Inn on Bourbon if it's available! We stay there every year (granted not on New Years Eve), but the location is fantastic for all the "people watching" and being able to just walk most places you want to go in the Quarter.

Have fun!

The Royal Sonesta is a wonderful hotel on Bourbon, but normally hotels in the French Quarter have a minimum stay requirement of 3 or 4 nights over New Year's. If you can find anything at all this late, I doubt you'll be able to find something for just 2 nights.

If you must stay on Bourbon St. at least find a place on the eastern end - otherwise prepare yourself for the noise/smell.

ccolor, Don't you mean "crawl" to most places in the Qtr? 8-}

We stayed at the Astor Crown at the corner of Canal and Bourbon last year. Great location, quiet, good restautant (Bourbon House) but not very "boutiquey".

Kal: Was that YOU I stumbled over on Bourbon St. heading back to the hotel?!?!?! I thought I recognized the B. F. baseball cap!!!

We have stayed at the Royal Sonesta several times. Wonderful hotel. A couple of good experiences, one bad. It all depends on where your room is and who checks into the adjoining room. I will definitely ask for a room that does not adjoin another room next time to help minimize the noise from the 3 am drunks.
