Please help with the final phase of my itinerary
We will be flying into Las Vegas at the beginning of Aug. This is our itinerary so far:
1 night LV 3 nights Desert Pearl to see Zion 3 nights in Bryce 2 nights in Torrey (Austin's Chuckwagon) to see Capital Reef. ? 2 nights LV Now here's my problem: We need to return to Las Vegas in order to fly home. It looks like a very long trip from Torrey. One thought is to go back to ZIon. Any other suggestions? How long a drive is it from TOrry to LV? THanks-- I need to finalize airplanes. |
I should say that we could stay longer or less days

2 things:
Your posting question is rather vague and does not mention Utah. You asked essentially this same question 2 months ago. Still need help? Other point IMHO is that 3 nights at Bryce is a bunch. It is not near the park that Zion is in terms of things to do and see. How about taking one of those nights and doing 2 at the N. Rim of GC? You can get to Vegas from there in a day, no problem. |
Torrey to Las Vegas via Hwy 24 to Richfield and then I-70 and I-15 is only 350 miles and about 6 hours driving time. This is very do-able in one day but I remember you don't want to drive that far. For a break you can stop at the Kolob section of Zion National Park just south of Cedar City, Utah and just off I-15.
If you haven't made your reservations yet or if you can change them, then I would change the order of how you do the parks. Bryce frist, Torrey second and Zion last so you're close to Las Vegas. OR you could just change the order of Bryce and Torrey. I just like saving Zion for last. Utahtea |
Thanks for the suggestion Utahtea. Unfortunately, I doubt that we can change the hotel reservations at this point. I'll call the Desert Pearl (which is our only "special" stop) and try. But your idea does make sense.
Any other suggstions as to stops to break the trip back to Vegas? |
How about a couple of nights in Boulder (Bouldertown)...there's lots to do ande see there and it might be a little cooler.
Boulder Mtn Lodge is a great place to stay and you can explore the Burr Trail Rd., Hell's Backbone Rd., Calf Creek Falls is a nice short & refreshing hike...lots to see in that area. Plus, dining at the Hell's Backbone Grill at the BML is worth staying a couple of nights all by itself. I agree that 3 nights at Bryce is too many and any nights in Lost Wages is too many IMHO (but then I hate cities and gambling). |
