Yah! You have a point. That would be romantic to sit out on a balcony with a beautiful view. So have you decided to stay at the Pacific Terrace? It has received many great reviews on TA. It's also in a great location to walk to restaurants and stroll around. Wherever you decide, hope you have a wonderful time!

Hi- We have visited SD from the east coast several times in the past 10 years. We have stayed at the Pacific Terrace in Pacific Beach, and the Loews Hotel in Coronado twice. PB is great, we loved it but decided to stay in Coronado once our children were older and more aware of their surroundings. Pacific Beach is funky- but similar to less desireable areas on East Coast beaches. The beach in Coronado is beautiful... The hotel Del has a great beach, but for the price the guests must feel like they are in display.. anyone can come and tour the hotel. The Loews is farther down Coronado Island, but has great bay views, fabulous pools, and a terrific staff. SD has so much to offer. Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo, La Jolla- the list goes on. Congrats on 25 yrs and have a great time in SoCal.

Hi Jayneann... Not trying to confuse you on your decision on the Pacific Terrace. BUT.... I would check out the Loews Coronado as Avalon4 mentioned. It appears to be more upscale (IMO from photos) than Pacific Terrace and their rates are less. I actually just recently changed my mind and decided to stay at the Loews because the package they gave me was incredible and the Loews had a more resort feel to it than the Glorietta Bay where we were initially staying. There is some info on this forum with reviews you can read and you can check out the website www.loewshotels.com and click San Diego location. The one negative I read is it's location is very isolated and not in the town where shops and restaurants are located. It's worth it just to see if it seems more appealing and maybe Avalon4 can give you more specifics on the hotel. I can tell you what I know about it.... bayview rooms or suites with balcony, bike rentals, gondola ride (VERY ROMANTIC), 10,000 sq. ft. spa which includes a couples suite, fitness center, adult only pool, three restaurants, there is a beach but it's across the highway called "The Silver Strand" which unfortunately doesn't compare to the beach by the Hotel Del, but you can drive approx.(4 miles). They also have chair and umbrella rentals and will shuttle you to the beach across the highway via golf cart. The hotel has various packages and I know there is one for couples. Check it out. You have nothing to lose. I know I would want my 25th to be really special too and I would research every single option which is why I thought I would mention it. Good luck Jayneann!

Your suggestion to check out Loew's was a great idea! Does look like a beautiful place but lots of complaints on tripadvisor because the resort is considered "far" from everything. I do want to be close to all the attractions!

Avalon, can you name east coast beach areas that remind you of Pacific Beach? That'll give me a better idea.

HI- As far as East Coast beaches that would compare to Pacific Beach- It is similar to areas that have a busy boardwalk and social scene. However in PB there is a significant homeless population compared to East Coast beaches. The reason I loved Coronado is that it is more like the family atmosphere beaches on the east, like Avalon in NJ and Newport in RI. The Loews in Coranado is isolated if you want to walk to all restaurants and shops outside of the resort. However, the restaurants and shops on Coronado proper are only a 4 minute car ride and 15-20 minute bike ride away. Loews rents bikes, and that's how we traveled into town most times. Rent a convertible and even the drive is fun!!!

Thanks for replying to Jayneann's question. It also gave me a better perspective on the area. We are coming from a Disneyland area experience and looking for quiet relaxation time to end our California trip so it sounds perfect for me. Riding bikes is something we planned on doing so it's a great alternative to driving. Thanks again!
