Please help with December Destination

My daughter and her husband have award airline tickets to use in December and are stumped for a place to go. They like big cities with lots to do and would prefer not to have to rent a car, if possible. Last year, they went to New York and had a great time. Could anyone please help them with an idea for a place to go? Many Thanks.

Chicago fills the bill with great mass transit, tons of good restaurants, theater and great museums. Enough there to keep you busy for weeks of tourism. Check out www.metromix for more information. It's one of my favorite getaways from the Detroit area.

New Orleans?

Wow, what a fun trip to plan! There are so many places to choose from. Do they need to use the tickets in December or by December?

Because, they shouldn't miss the beautiful Fall foliage in the New Englands states during October if possible.

For big cities, San Francisco? Miami?(warm in December)

I know you said they like big cities, but if they are athletic or enjoy the outdoors then I would also recommend seeing one of the national parks, Yellowstone, Glacier, Yosemite...

the possibilites are endless!

New Orleans would be my choice as well!

There aren't very many big cities that are warm in December, with the exception of LA and San Diego, and of course off the mainland you would have to inlcude Honolulu. San Francisco and Miami don't really qualify as big cities in my opinion, they are basically mid-sized cities, no comparison to New York, LA, or San Diego. Miami is warm in December however, the same can't be said for SF. December is the dead of winter in SF and in the middle of the rainy season.
