Please help with Burlington, VT lodging
 

Hello. Can anyone recommend loding in Burlington, VT? I don't need anything fancy, but I would like a clean place that is in walking distance of things to see and places to eat. I have reservations at the Best Western Lodging and have heard from one person that it isn't the best choice. Has anyone else stayed there? Does anyone have any other recommedations in about this price range? I'd rather not stay at a B&B only because I have to wake up and leave very early one morning so I'd feel more comfortable in a hotel. Thanks!

Best Western is a bad choice

Besides Best Western is not within walking distance to all places you wish to see. You need a car in Burlington, Vt. When are you visiting Burlington?

I will be there in the fall. I know that things are filling up but I think we should be able to find something for mid-week. We'll have a car. I just thought it would be nice to walk to places if possible. We will only be in Burlington a couple of nights. The day we get to Vermont and the day we leave Vermont. I have now heard two responses to avoid the Best Western. Can someone advise on a better place? The Wyndham is out of our price range. Thanks! :)

Am curious as to what is so horrible about the Best Western! The restaurant there is very good.
When I lived on the other side of the state I've had to stay in a couple of the hotels - I've stayed at the Holiday Inn on Williston Road and it was fine. Ditto for the Sheraton. On Shelburne Road (Route 7) both my good friend and a co-worker have stayed at the Howard Johnson and have been pleased. Also next to to the Ho JOs is a Holiday Inn Express as well as a couple extended stay hotels. They are all fairly new hotels (less than 10 yrs old). Just be forwarned that Shelburne Road is under construction and delays the norm. Nothing majorly long though. Just enough of a pain to make us locals seek alternate routes while doing our errands!

Next month my husband and I will be staying in the Courtyard in Williston, which is a few miles east of Burlington. Don't know anything about it, but hope it's better than these descriptions of Best Western!

Ellijay, we stayed in Courtyard several times. It is a new and lovely hotel near a few new restaurants just on the other side of I-89. Make sure you ask about a room away from I-89. There is also new Residence Inn next to Courtyard and near by Fairfield Inn which is much better than old, worn Best Western. When we stayed there in May for three days we stayed in Best Western we could smell sewage. We were finally moved to a suit on the other side of the hotel but for two nights in a row big trucks parked outside our windows ran engines and we still could smell sewage but it wasn't as bad as on the other side of the hotel. Elevator in Best Western was so filthy we just used stairway. I could add more about Best Western but I hope they will renovate this place soon. Surprisingly we had a very good dinner at the best Western's restaurant

We looked at Williston but would like to stay somewhere with shuttle to the airport so that we can drop our car off the night before our early a.m. flight. I hope the hope the Couryard works out for you! Courtyards are usually nice.

Has anyone experienced the Holiday Inn in Burlington? They're in about the same area and have a shuttle.

If anyone else has any other comments or suggestions about the area as far as lodging or nice things to see/do, they'd be appreciated.

Thanks earlxx. I was getting worried. I appreciate the advice on interstate noise. I'll bring our ear plugs just in case!
