Please help ASAP!

I just found out that I will be on a very short trip in LA June 23-26. Please tell me the must see highlights - I don't have a ton of time to do the research. I definitely want to spend at least one day at the beach. Which beach should I go to? Maybe a tour of the city would be nice. Are there any scenic hiking trails that would be feasable to get to in one day? Thanks!

I would recommend that you go to Venice beach on the weekend and see all the people, street acts, and weight lifters (muscle beach). Go early it can get crowded. There is also Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade (3 blocks from the Santa Monica pier) which gets tourists and locals alike for shopping and dining.

I really liked Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach when I was in LA last summer. HUGE clean beaches.

Griffith Park right in LA has lots of hiking trails and good views of the city.

Jen...Lisa is right. Manhattan and Hermosa are excellent beaches. As a matter of fact this is the area that I live in. These are local beaches and not very touristy. So it all depends on what you are looking for.

Hi Jen:

I also grew up in Manhattan Beach...voted recently the best beach in so. cal to see puppies and yuppies. So if you want to see so cal beaches as the locals do, come on by. It's clean, plenty of bars to hang out in, and easier to find parking than some other beaches (cheap too!). I much prefer Manhattan and Hermosa to the crowded tourist beaches north of here.

Manhattan Beach is a pretty affluent little city...so even the sand on the beach seems softer here!
