Red Rock Park is an easy drive and there are some petroglyphs there too. Stop in at the VC for directions.

Also Valley of Fire is only an hour or so away and has awesome views and lots of petroglyphs, both in the atl atl rock area and along the trail to mouse's tank,

I assume that you will hike to Delicate Arch in Arches. It might be a little difficult for a child. It is all uphill, but then super easy going back down. Anyway, there is a small gallery of petroglyphs right at the start of the hike that were pretty cool to see.
