Playing Pebble Beach

I hope this is not a duplicate posting. We will be in Carmel area between 7/3-7/7 does anyone know what chances are for playing Pebble. My husband and daughter want to play. Husband has played years ago, however 14 year old is a player and wants the experience. Any help appreciated.<BR>Cheryl

We've done this and it's the golf course my husband loves to hate! The best way to get a tee time at Pebble is to stay at the Lodge there or at Spyglass. Only guests of the resorts can reserve a time more than 24 hours ahead and the courses are usually fully booked by guests if it's a weekend. Since you're going over the 4th of July, I would predict that you won't get on unless you stay at the resort and make your reservations immediately. Room rates at the Lodge start about $500 and golf is about another $350 per round. So, it will be pricey, but it's your decision. We aren't good enough golfers to make it worthwhile, but were down there with 3 very good golfers for a weekend. There are loads of other very nice courses to play in Monterey however. Cheryl, Sorry, make that the Inn at Spanish Bay---Spyglass is the golf course. There's another hotel that allows you to play Pebble as well, but the name escapes me. Spanish Bay is quite nice and has a bagpiper at sunset. Even if you decide not to play, with two golfers, do drive the 17 Mile Drive. If you have lunch at Pebble or Spanish Bay, you'll get a rebate for your entrance fee. It's not a big deal, but many people on this forum have thought it was a rip off.

Check out Pacific Grove Municipal course while you are in the area. Some of the holes go right along the ocean as does Pebble but the charge for a round in $39.00. Locals know this, tourists find out later.
