Planters Inn
 

My husband surprised me with a ticket to Paula Dean's cooking school for my 60th! Taking my mom and am looking for a good place to stay and things to do. Need thoughts on the Planters Inn in Savannah.Will arrive on a Wed., cooking school on Thurs., free on friday, leave on Sat. (maybe).

What a great hubby! In early November mom, 2 sisters & I stayed 2 nights at the Planters. Loved it ... got 21-day advance rate of $109 per room, 2 nice beds and large bathroom (large enough for 2 big-haired women to primp at the same time), good breakfast and nice afternoon wine/cheese to-do. Super location, right next to Old Pink House, easy to walk just about everywhere. We felt very safe but we are a pack of four loud-mouths so we probably scare off troublemakers. First morning we took a trolley tour to get our bearings; lunched at Mrs Wilkes; evening ghost tour; got lots of great suggestions from Fodors, just seach the boards for Savannah and you'll get more than you asked for. Have a wonderful trip!

What a clever and wonderful Birthday present! He will no doubt, reap the rewards of those cooking classes! He is no dummy lol.
We did not stay at the Planters Inn but looked in when we were in Savannah, lovely. And being right next door to the Old Pink House is not bad either :)
It is a great location, not a long walk to the River walk area or Lady & Sons and the other good restaurants and charming shops..
I wish we were able to visit Savannah eaiser, I really fell in love with it when we were there (())
