Yes Cary - we can tell that you are no fan of SF - LOL. I don't think that the above posters are forgetting that Tracy is going on vacation with kids. Just about everybody has warned about biting off more than you can chew with respect to theme parks. Energetic kids or not, theme parks can be very tiring for parents, esspecially a few days back to back.

SF has plenty of neat things for kids. I also wouldn't say that theme parks are a better choice with kids than Yosemite. It depends entirely on what sort of experience you want with the kids. I do agree that Hearst Castle with little kids is not a good idea, however there are plenty of neat things to do with kids in Big Sur

If the kids are not familiar with snow country, a March-April trip to Yosemite could be unforgettable.

Cary, your take on SF is so off!!

There is a brand new aquarium and natural history museum in Golden Gate Park that the kids would love. Riding on a cable car is exciting for them, too. My 4-yr-old grandson was thrilled with it! The Exploratorium is designed for kids. (all sorts of hands-on science stuff.) I think if you buy a good SF guidebook with a chapter on kids you will find all sorts of things. PLUS!! It's a gorgeous city with stunning views for the grownups.
