Planning for rainy visit to Boston?
 

We're visiting Boston for the first time this weekend, looking forward to exploring the neighborhoods, parks and Freedom Trail. Now the forecast is calling for rain everyday we're there. No worries - we'll make do. Just wanted to know if anyone had suggestions to best cope with the weather and still best enjoy / experience the city!

First, weather reports in Boston are often wrong - so bad weather is not certain. As recently as 2 days ago they were saying no sign of rain for the next week.

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, JFK Library, not a NE Aquarium fan, but others are. Do part of Freedom Trail that includes museums/historic sites. Faneuil Hall is inside and right next to Quincy Market shops and restaurants. Mid-Freedom Trail is Museum of African American Heritage, a smallish but interesting museum.

Ditto what gail said. The weather forecast here is wrong 80% of the time. And even if it does rain, it's seldom we get torrential rain. If it's light rain, you can still walk the Freedom Trail. Just make sure you layer up as it's getting a bit chilly here this time of year, esp morning and evening.

Apart from the JKF library and the Gardner Museum, you can also visit the MFA (a new exhibition just started last weekend - "Treasures from Assyria from the British Museum").

There is supposed to be a Nor'easter this weekend. So I would plan on bringing your raingear.
