Planning family reunion - looking for memorable resort in Virginia, NC, SC, or Georgia

I'm organizing a family reunion and need to find a resort that is one to be remembered and cherished for many years. People coming from Ohio, South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Spring or Summer 2004. Thanks !

The two most logical places I can think of are the Greenbriar and the Homestead.

I second the suggestion of The Homestead. Between these two resorts (we've been to both on business) the Homestead seems more lively and less stuffy. But both places are pretty expensive. If everyone likes the beach, would you consider renting two or more of those gigantic houses (sleep 16 or more) on the beach in Corolla, NC? Or do you really want resort amenities?

You might also want to consider Calloway Gardens outside Atlanta or Kingsmill at Williamsburg -

Been to the Outer Banks for last 18 years and we've had enough of the price gouging and the traffic. I looked into The Homestaed website. Looks great. I'll pass this suggestion along to the other 30 family members and let the firworks begin!
Thanks.

Kingsmill at Williamsburg is really neat, plus you're near both Williamsburg and Busch Gardens.
