Planning Cape Cod Trip Need Help
I am trying to plan a bachelorette party/weekend for August. Cape Cod I've heard is a nice area and have never been. I need some advice on the best places to stay. I was thinking a place on or walking distance to the beach and not far from restaurants and nightlife attractions. Thanks for the help :)

The 3 best towns/villages that have accomodations on/near beach and within walking distance of restaurants nightlife are:
Provincetown, Chatham and the Ocean Street area of Hyannis. Some places to consider: Provincetown: Surfside Inn; Boatslip. Chatham: Chatham Bars Inn; Wayside Inn Hyannis: Hyannis Harbor & Hyannis Holiday. You can find more accomodations by clicking on Lodgings at Cape Cod Times website. |
Chatam's Bars Inn is very nice and right on the beach. Good luck.............

Last year we stayed in Wood's Hole. A great place near the ferry to Martha's Vineyard and a wonderful lighthouse.Paul

I've been offered a place to stay in Falmouth. Can anyone offer any feedback? Good? Bad?
|
Where in Falmouth? Also East, North or West Falmouth? I like Falmouth and it is easy to get to Martha's Vineyard. Under an hour on the ferry.
|
Falmuth has plenty of good beaches, restaurants and nightlife but it is a huge town (for Cape Cod) and everything here is more spread out.
Depending upon the location of the place you were offered you might be driving around more. |
The place I have been offered is outside of Woods Hole.
|
Woods Hole is like the Southwestern tip of Cape Cod as opposed to Provincetown at the Northeastern tip.
It is isolated even from Falmouth and in August it can take a long time to make this trip. WH however, does have a lot to offer. The village itself is charming, with its harbor, quaint shops, WHOI. and it's own restaurants and nightlife including the historic Landfall restaurant. As others here have stated it is an ideal spot to take a trip to MV. |
What Gene said. If in August make sure it is not on the weekend of the Falmouth Road Race. Google it. You do NOT want to be there then! Unless you are running in it. It starts in Woods Hole. Google the Captain Kidd restaurant. Next to the drawbridge. That would be a fun place to be for your party.

Falmouth location is nice, esp if you want the option of a day trip to MV,( a short ferry ride from Woodshole/falmouth) just make sure you take the ferry that lands in Oak Bluffs as there is more to do there than in Vineyard Haven b/c you won't have your car, although there is a great public transport system; but you'd have a nice ferry ride over and back, and in OB you have access to walk along the beach, lagoon, restaurants, touristy shops, the gingerbread/victorian houses, - a good back up option if the weather isn't just soak in the sun in Falmouth type and you are up for an excursion.

Chatham is a really nice town with some pretty good beaches and a quaint square. I would recommend the Chatham Bar's Inn. It's gorgeous!

do a search on seafox and see my comments on another post relative to the differences in Ptown and Chatham. Decide what fits best for your friends. I can tell you that there seem to be a lot of bachelorette parties in Ptown.....
