Thank you, Ackislander.
I don't want to hijack Sharlene's thread, but I have to give my husband credit for that analysis. Before we bought our RV he (the retired college professor) analyzed the costs of RV travel every way he could think of. Different gas prices, different number of days, various distances. Doing that would make me a crazy person but was a natural for someone with years of lab experience.
Sharlene,
You mentioned some concern about the length of your RV and getting around. That could be an issue, depending on where you want to go. You also need to consider your height and width. For instance, if you're going to the Badlands in South Dakota, no way would I recommend that you drive the Needles Highway in anything but your towed truck.
Will this trip involve any mountain driving and have you done any? You mention Wyoming but don't say where. Are you going to Yellowstone and the Tetons? If so, some routes into YS aren't recommended for RVs.
I'm sure you get my drift. If you'll be more specific about the parts of your trip besides the Balloon Festival, I'll be happy to offer any advice I can from our previous trips out that way with and without the RV.
