Planning A Road Trip to Outer Banks North Carolina in April 2021
We are starting to plan a road trip from Cape Cod to Outer Banks in April. We will be towing our travel trailer and camping in OBX. Any suggestions for a campground stop for the night on the way? What is a good stopping point to make long trip more enjoyable?
Will traffic be an issue April vacation week on OBX?
This is our first time there and would appreciate any travel tips or information.

A big tip to beat a lot of traffic is what day you check in on. Typically, most people vacationing on the Outer Banks choose to rent from Saturday to Saturday. If you switch up your check-in day to a Friday or Sunday Check-in traffic will be much less.

It might cost a bit more, but our favorite way to go to that area is to take. 95 to the Garden state parkway then take the Cape May ferry to Lewes then head down the DELMARVA to Chincoteague for the night and a quick loop through the NP to see the ponies. Then we continue south and cross the Bay bridge/ tunnel to Virginia Beach and rot 17 on south. Not the fastest, but much more relaxing and scenic.
