Many of the above are on my lists as well. But, since it hasn't been mentioned, I'd say Niagara Falls is spectacular. My husband had been bugging me to go for years. So, I planned a trip to Toronto, thinking we'd take a quick look on the way back. I had assumed from what I'd read and heard that the area was tacky and honky-tonk and probably the ultimate in "touristy". No so, at least on the Canadian side. The Canadian Parks Commission has done a fabulous job of keeping the area near the Falls tasteful, beautiful, reasonably priced, and full of gorgeous landscaping. The Falls "attractions" are fun, interesting, and well worth the price of admission. You have to go out of your way up Clifton Hill to find the "touristy" stuff and attractions. And, the Falls are, well, spectacular! I loved the Falls so much, we went back the next year for a week, although we stayed in Niagara-on-the-Lake and saw four Shaw Festival presentations, taking daily drives along the parkway and to the Falls. The southern end of the Niagara Parkway is also a gorgeous drive. This Fall, we took a "side trip" to the Falls on our road trip from New Hampshire to the Catskills to Montreal. Way out of the way, but we loved seeing the Falls once again.

P.S. to GOL - fabulous post - one of the best ever!

Lynn Oct 31st, 2000 03:45 AM

Fun and interesting thread, GOL. I'm enjoying how one person's "never again" is another person's "would return anytime." Differing opinions are good! Here's my list:

Visited and definitely return:
1. San Francisco (would take numerous visits to take in all it has to offer)
2. Chicago (same as above)
3. Colorado Springs/Pike's Peak (the beauty of the area alone is reason enough)
4. Monterey/Carmel

Don't need to return even though it was a good time:
1. Kennedy Space Center
2. Michigan's U.P.
3. Wisconsin Dells ("good time is even pushing it - biggest waste of a weekend and $300.00 ever!)

Places I would return:

Boston/Cape Cod
Miami
WDW-and general area
Utah-Bryce Canyon
Manhattan

One Time Only Visit:

Los Angeles (I've been there a lot, no need to go again, very deteriorated)
Hawaii
Statue of Liberty
(touristy sights in NY)

Ileana Oct 31st, 2000 04:08 AM

With as many "won't go back" to WDW...you'd think the place would be empty. I always thought that at some point, the world has gone there already and their attendance would go down. Guess not..guess people breed then take THEIR kids and so on.

mms Oct 31st, 2000 04:53 AM

Lleana - of the 33 posts above only 6 said they wouldn't go back to Disney.
3 stated that WDW was one of their favorite places that they would go back to over and over - Sorry - Not to convincing of statistics for you negative remark.

Anyway - terrific places to revisit:
Bora Bora
Canadian Rockies
San Juan Islands
Boston
Austrian Alps
San Francisco
Montana

Probably won't go back:
Puerto Vallarta
Cancun
Las Vegas
Any Club Med

Dave Oct 31st, 2000 05:52 AM

mms,

Make that 7 "wouldn't go back"'s for WDW.

mms Oct 31st, 2000 06:08 AM

Dave,

OK,OK,OK - I have to admit that WDW is not my favorite place either - Been there 6 times. 5 of those times have been work-related for training or conventions. With THOSE kinds of Statistics I can't honestly say I won't go back - I may have too.

I just really didn't like the way the previous poster referred to parents and "breeding". I just got my goat as low- class and insulting. Why do a very few people - (I have a feeling it really is only one person) have to make such ugly and unnecessary statements? Rhetorical question - I know there is no answer.

Chuck Oct 31st, 2000 06:09 AM

To MMS- Make that 8 who would not go back to WDW. Who died and made you the Fodor's police? And is it really necessary to post sarcastic, nasty replies to everyone? If you don't like the tone here go post somewhere else, or better yet do something productive instead of posting garbage here all day!

mms Oct 31st, 2000 06:15 AM

Whatever you say Q!

herself Oct 31st, 2000 06:29 AM

mms
Why is it low-class to breed?
