Places to stop on drive from Zion to Salt Lake City?
 

Hi all- My 9 yr. old child and I are driving from Zion (Springdale) to Salt Lake City tomorrow (Aug. 14th). Any recommendations on places to stop and eat or sites to see? Hoping to break up the long drive! We have all day for the trip.

It would add an hour to the drive, but Byrce National Park is very nice and Red Canyon in Dixie National Forest which you drive through on the way there is also cool.

You could hike the Kolob Canyon section to get them good and tired and then drive up. There really isn't much-sorry!

You could stop at the Thanksgiving Point Museum of Ancient Life--excellent dinosaur museum. But then you are only 40 minutes from SLC.

Timpanogos Cave National Monument.

If you child like to swim, you might stop at Yuba State Park where the lake water is 70 F. If you do, pick up a picnic in Beaver.
