Places to stay in San Diego
Any suggestions for a place to stay while in San Diego. Under $100, safe clean, and close to main sightseeing. We have a car, so transportation is not a problem.

Thanks for any help.

My husband and I have stayed at La Jolla cove suites and thought it was great for fitting in our budget.I think the web site is LaJollaCove.com if you want to check it out.We had no problem getting around (also had a car), and couldn't have asked for a better view.
L

the catamaran in pacific beach is nice and just a block from the beach. also the bahia.
best western in la jolla is probably one the least expensive in la jolla. nothing fancy but clean & in a good location.
be aware if booking a hotel that says it's in la jolla. be sure to ask if it's by "downtown" la jolla. there are some hotels that say la jolla but are actually about 5 miles away.
there is a best western right on pacific beach.
some of the cheapest places are in "hotel circle". it is very convenient to everything but right on a freeway and no place for a walk so i'd avoid booking anything there.

Thanks for the info. Anyone else have suggestions?

We recently booked a room at the Courtyard by Marriott in the Gaslamp district in downtown San Diego for $89/night through Marriott's website. Great location and I'm sure it's a decent hotel. It was the best deal I could find in the downtown area.
