Places to stay in NYC?
I need advice...I'm looking for accomodations in Manhattan and can afford $100-150/night. There are so many choices! What areas of Manhattan are best to stay in? Anyone have a hotel to recommend to me?

There is a budget hotels website called travelbook.com. I used it to book a 2 bedroom suite right at Rockefeller Centre over Christmas for $175 a night. They also have studios and and one bedrooms. Travelbook offers other hotels in the budget range. Good Luck.

BEST place to go on the net to get EVERY hotel that fulfills your criteria is: http://www.fodors.com

you can tell it what $$$$ you can pay, what area you are going, accommodations, restaurants, etc; It's excellent. I have found a TREASURE of 411!

Good luck!

Mid

I must respectfully disagree w/the previous posting (partially). In all fairness to Fodor's there are far too many hotel choices in an area as large as NYC for them to cover all possible good choices, particularly at the lower end of price spectrum. Their reviews are generally comprehensive and accurate but by necessity leave out many good places. Another significant issue is price. Checking NYC hotels by phone, I discovered that most were 10 -30% higher than the most recent prices Fodor's listed. NYC hotel prices have risen significantly in the past two years and if you're on a budget like I am (or prefer to reserve discretionary income for travel expenses and good meals rather than fancy lodging), it's worth checking other sources in addition to Fodor's. Always goos to have a second opinion!
