Places to stay in Carmel California

Can anyone recommend a decent B&B or hotel to stay in in Carmel in Oct. Seems there are so many negative comments about many of the places to stay. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

We stayed at a very nice Clarion hotel....

Perfect central location in Carmel.
Very clean. Pretty hotel.

What is your budget?

Thanks for the recommendation. Our budget would be around up to $250 a night.

We just got back...enjoyed our stay at the Vagabond House Inn and can recommend it. Go for an upstairs room if you don't need a kitchen as it's more private.
We were also looking at the La Playa hotel but it was booked during our time there.

We stayed in a cottage in the Normandy Inn a couple of years ago and were very happy with it. It is right in Carmel which we liked -- could walk anywhere.

We liked the following: http://www.carmelgardencourtinn.com/
We stayed at the Garden Court, though friends stayed at and really liked the San Antonio House (their sister inn) which is closer to the beach.

We stayed at the Lobos Lodge this past December and were very pleased. We weren't expecting much but it has a great location right in the village and our rooms were clean and well-appointed. It's not a luxury property by any means but it was quite nice. We had drinks at Doris Day's Cypress Inn which seems nice especially if you have your dog with you.

La Playa is very nice, it is a historic hotel with beautiful grounds, lots of flowers, it is in an excellent location, close the the ocean and downtown Carmel. They also have a nicely heated outdoor swimming pool at La Playa. :)

This past May we enjoyed our second stay at the Tickle Pink Inn which is heaven on earth! ***kim*** ((*))

If you are willing to go next door to Pacific Grove you could stay at the Green Gables Inn, which is just across the road from the Bay, where you will find a great recreation trail which you can travel for a couple of miles either north or south.

This is within walking distance of several great restaurants in the town of Pacific Grove, and if you want to visit Carmel Beach or shop in Carmel, it is just a short drive away.
