Places to go in Seattle?
I am planning to go to Seattle in a few weeks with three other adults. We plan on visiting the space needle and Pike's market, as well as do the underground tour. What else is there to do in Seattle? Any recommendations?
|
How many days? What kind of activities appeal to the group? Are you shoppers? Museum visitors? Hikers? Gotta give us more to work with. BTW, there is no Pike's Market...but there is a Pike Place Market.

Take a walk through the University of Washington Botanical Garden. There is a bus stop at the west end and the east end is Lake Washington.
|
Pink Door and Alibi Room are two restaurants in the Post Alley that I recommend to out-of-town visitors while they are visiting Pike Place Market. Alibi Room is more of a bar/club, but is famous of its interesting location in the Post Alley.

I enjoyed the Seattle Unit of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park: http://www.nps.gov/klse/index.htm
Many of those lured by the promise of gold in Alaska set out from Seattle (the park also has a unit in Skagway, AK, their gateway to the Klondike - I have visited it as well, a number of years after visiting the Seattle Unit). |
When we were there last summer we enjoyed the Chittendon Locks and the Argosy Cruises Seattle Lakes Cruise.

How long do you have?
Do you have a rental car, or want activities you can do on foot or via public transportation? |
downtown/daytime:
Pike Place Market the Waterfront Seattle Aquarium Seattle Center/Space Needle Pioneer Square historic district Smith Tower observation deck Chinatown/International District Seattle Art Museum downtown/nighttime: Dahlia Lounge Etta's Seafood Il Bistro Anthony's Pier 66 The Triple Door (music) Jazz Alley 5th Avenue Theater Teatro Zinzanni |
Does "in a few weeks" mean like, February? Pretty different kind of experience than in, say, August.

Thank you all for your help so far! I am going at the end of January for three days. We have dinner plans every night and are just looking for activities to do in the daytime. We like a variety of things. Just doing one type of activity would bore use, so maybe some shopping, some museum-going, and some outdoor activity would be good. Thank you!!

The weather here at the moment is not so much condusive to "outdoor activities". It's freezing cold, pouring rain, and gets darks early.
"Shopping" is easy. Everything's right there in the downtown core. Pacific Place is a very nice 'mall'. And Nordstroms and Macy's are just a block from each other. For more unique items, the shops within the Pike Place Market are great. "Museum" there is Seattle Art Museum right downtown. And the Frye on First Hill (free). There's EMP (experience music project), SciFi Museum, and Pacific Science center. |
I will have to check out some of those museums. Thanks for the great info! Someone told me yesterday that there is a rock and roll museum. Does anyone have any information about that?

Would also recommend the Boeing Air and Space Museum
