Place to stay near Volcano Nat'l Park
We are going to be in HI in July and would like to stay somewhere relatively close to Volcano National Park. Within a 30-60 minute drive. There will be 9 of us.
Any suggestions?

This past June we were there and we stayed at the Volcano Inn (there are two as far as am concerned is the one on 2nd st, I think that is how they can tell the difference) either way the place was great it's like a B&B except their rates are cheaper since they do not serve b-fast. The owners were very accomodating, it was four in our group and we were on the second floor, I do understand that you can rent both floors and you should be able to get everyone together, you did not specify if you were looking for a hotel or if this would do, best part about the place beside it's owwners and how clean it was is that it's about a five minute drive to Volcano National Park. Hope this helps have a great time in Hawaii. Gina

You might consider renting a house in Puna. It's usually sunnier and warmer there than in Volcano and you're about 45 min or so from Volcano. We have rented from both apoparadise and hpvacationrentals in the past and have been quite satisfied. Here are some links:http://www.lagoonhouse.com/

I love Kilauea Lodge right at VNP; I know they have some cottages as well as rooms at the Lodge.

Thank you all for the help! I had already looked into the Kilauea Lodge but unfortunately they were booked. I will look into the other places. Hotel or B&B are both options we are willing to look at.

netwizid, look into this group of properties ... I hear wonderful things about them, but have never rented from them:
