place to stay near jenny lake
I know it's late but I would like to take my family hiking around Jenny Lake area. I hear Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point are really great. Any thoughts where we might be able to stay in July. Only have one night.
thanks! |
Just made this hike on Monday - it was lovely...you should look in either Jackson Hole (the Wyoming Inn was great - convenient, clean, and accomodating) or the Jackson Lake Lodge, if you can get a room. Either location is about equidistance from Jenny Lake - within 30 minutes or so...you might also find decent rates at one of the primarily ski resorts in Teton Village - Snake River Lodge and Spa is one.

Signal Mountain Lodge is ok for in the park accommodations. Jenny Lake Lodge is one of the most expensive places to stay in National Park history.
The campground there is always crowded and often full of beer swilling mountain climbers. They seem to run a relay to keep campground spots occupied. |
Of course, the nearest place is Jenny Lake Lodge - assuming it has any vacancies. As Bob says, it is on the expensive side, but we thoroughly enjoyed it (and the restaurant is worth a special trip). It is not part of or near the campground. Otherwise, I would agree with ausc and look in Jackson Hole area. I'd certainly try Jackson Lake Lodge which is very nice, but it may be full.

Our family is headed to the Tetons this summer also. Jenny Lake Lodge is very expensive for a family. We are staying at Jackson Lake Lodge in a cottage. If they are booked, you can keep calling back to see if any rooms have opened up. About 10 years ago, we stayed in a cabin at Colter Bay, which was fine. It is a litle further from Jenny Lake. If you can't find anything in the park, your best bet is Jackson.

We loved Signal Mountain Lodge - had a small cabin w/gas fireplace. Great restaurant on site. The property is lakefront & is very close to Oxbow Bend for moose viewing. They have a larger lakefront rooms that look great.
