Place for great crab cakes in Gaithersburg, MD?

Will be traveling to Gaithersburg next week on business and am hoping to find a place for wonderful crab cakes. Was there last year and ate at a place called Stoney's in the Annapolis area (actually it was a ways from there on the water). I thought I'd had crab cakes before but, after dining at Stoney's, realized I'd never experienced the real thing. Now, I can't get them out of my mind.

Can you recommend a few places in or near Gaithersburg? Am willing to drive if necessary to rid myself of this "Jones".

Thanks!

Al

Well, it's a bit of a hike, but I've always liked the ones at G&M's, an unassuming restaurant in Linthicum Heights (804 Hammonds Ferry Road, tel: 410.636.1777). Check out www.gandmcrabcakes.com. They've got very little filler, and the waitresses have been there for years and years and years...
Oh, and send some up here to Connecticut, will ya? Talk about jonesing... :)

I would suggest driving about 30 minutes north to Frederick, MD and going to Dutch's Daughter. Not sure what atmosphere you were looking for but this is a nice restaurant (not a crab house) and they are well-known for their crabcakes! Enjoy!

How about O'Donnell's on Kentlands Blvd in Gaithersburg. A good seafood place that has been in the DC area for a long time.

Lived in Maryland my whole life, so am something of a crab cake snob. Absolutely second the suggestion to drive to Dutch's Daughter in Frederick. We live in Frederick (maybe a 30-40 min drive from Gaithersburg) The restaurant has excellent food and crab cakes are no exception. My second choice would be Mealey's in New Market (a few mins. short of Frederick) Also a nice little antique haven. If you need directions let me know.Mt. Airy, of equal distance, has Rachel's Garden and when they have them are also excellent. Of course Ocean City Md. probably has the best(my favorite is Captain's Galley) but that's a real trek from Gaithersburg.
