Place for 8 in Monterey/Carmel?

A group of us would like to spend the second weekend in June in the Montery area. We are a mixed group of couples and friends so we are flexible on sleeping accomidations. We would like a place where we can have some meals in, but still be close to some nice areas. An ocean view would be great, but not necessary.

We have rented places in Tahoe for the last couple of years but would like to try something new.

Any suggestions? I have done a search of the Fodor site but didn't quite find what I was loking for. Thanks in advance.

You didn't mention anything about $$$. It sounds like a vacation rental would fit your needs. I've been looking into Pajaro Dunes.... It's a gated community on the coast at Watsonville. That is in between Santa Cruz and Monterey, on the ocean. They have everything from 1 - 3 bedroom condos, all the way to 5 and 6 bedroom houses. If you have several couples, the cost might not be so bad. We are looking into a 2 bedroom, 2 bath -- in June it's about $900/3 nights. Like I said, it's not cheap....but, you can't beat the location or the view.

Hey, I was going to suggest Pajaro Dunes!!!

Right on the ocean. Only drawback is that each is individually owned so you may know the floorplan but the decor is different in each unit.

Take a look at Asilomar in Pacific Grove. Great ambiance, decent rates and breakfast is included.
