pj clarkes on 3rd and 55th?
Anyone been lately? Still good?
|
I used to go for burgers and steak tartar. Well, there are now so many good burger places, these sort of pale in comparison. I haven't tried the steak tartar lately so don't know. The ambiance of the place is still good imo, but it's lost that air of exclusivity it once had (for me). I haven't been to the upstairs dining room, Sidecar, which gets great reviews on menupages.

Thank-you!

Worked across the street for 7 years. It was never exclusive - not even on the nights Woody was there tootlin' away. (I worked with a guy that called it The Caf(eteria) since he lunched every day.)
Same as always. |
Decent for burgers, fries and a cold brew, but nothing to go out of the way for.

I thought Woody played at Michael's Pub. Agree P.J. Clarke's was never exclusive -- at least, they always let me in. |
I lived three blocks away for thirty years. Stuck my nose in the door once, and that was enough. I guess it would be worth a visit if you are a fan of "The Lost Weekend" (1945) the Ray Milland movie which had some scenes set there when an elevated train ran on Third Avenue.

Never thought pj's was exclusive; I wondered how the food was these days. We didn't get there; we ended up at Co. in Chelsea for pizza, which was excellent.

PJs was never exclusive.
They were once famous for their chicken salad, which Jackie O supposedly liked. the back room was the celeb hangout years ago. Their burgers are still good. I would not give much credence to reviews on MenuPages. |
