Pittsburgh

Me and a friend are traveling to Pittsburgh this weekend to get our heads from the memories in champaign il. mainly hoping to do some sight seeing, or maybe those things you guys call 'hills' or 'mountains' if there are any places or cheap m/hotels you could suggest that would be great! sorry for the late notice.

A buddy and i were hoping to go sightseeing in Pittsburgh. We rarely see hills and don't have a whole lot of money to spend in the city. Could you recommend anywhere worth going? And or a cheap hotel to possibly stay at? I'm pretty sure that was English... but im giving you the benefit of the doubt and writing it more clearly.

it seems odd to me that you would be going to a city to see hills or mountains. Yes, Pittsburgh has Mt Washington but that is a few hours of a trip. Maybe look for something in the Poconos if you want to sightsee in mountains.

As a Hoosier who moved to Pittsburgh years ago, I know you will be impressed by the hills of Pgh. Here are some free and cheap things to do.

Go to Station Square and take the incline up to the top of Mt. Washington (about the price of bus fare), and enjoy the (free) wonderful view, day or especially night.

Go to the Strip District (not what it sounds like -- it is the wholesale area) in the morning and wander around the warehouses filled with exotic stuff from other lands, and snack on exotic snacks.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have games in town Saturday and Sunday night.

Enjoy the Carnegie Museums complex in the Oakland area. For great cheap eats, visit the ``O'' (Oakland Original) just a few blocks away. Also in Oakland you can walk around the Phipps Conservatory, the biggest glass planthouse you have ever seen, with different climates in different wings.

You might be able to find a cheap hotel in the Oakland neighborhood, which is where the universities and museums are located. There is a Hampton Inn and a Quality Inn, for example.

The Cathedral of Learning is free and not to be missed. Located on the Un. Of Pittsburgh campus - about 28 classrooms designed in the architectural and learning style of the different countries.

Shennley bark in Oakland is free.

In the Strip have a fish sandwich at Wholey's.

The Audibon Society is a nice place to walk and is free.
