Pittsburg, PA hotel help
 

My husband and I want to go to Pittsburgh, PA from 6/3-6/7. Friends recommended the Hampton Inn on Smallman but they have no rooms available. Any recommendations? We want to go to a baseball game, see museums and other sights and would prefer to be in a location where we wouldn't have to drive everywhere. Also, would rather not pay too much although, even the top hotels might be giving deals so we are open to any suggestions. Location is the most important. Thanks

My wife and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Southside and really enjoyed it. The rate was very good and the location was within walking distance of several restaurants. I cannot speak to the proximity of the baseball field but it was very close to Heinz field. I suggest you go to tripadvisor.com and check out the hotels.

There are several hotels within walking distance to the baseball park, the theaters, the Warhol Museum, and the Heinz History Museum but they will be expensive. They include the Renaissance, Courtyard Pittsburgh Downtown, Omni Willian Penn and Spring Hill Suites Northshore. If you want to visit the Carnegie Museums, your best bet is to take a bus or drive if you stay downtown. If you stay at the Sheraton Station Square, you can take the "T" (subway) to get within walking distance of the stadium or downtown attractions.

I got a 4star hotel downtown for $60.00 thru Priceline. (can't remember which one)

Pittsburgh Downtown is fairly compact, and the Priceline Downtown zone also pretty small. I got the Westin a few years ago bidding 4*; it's already near the eastern edge of the PL zone, but still only 0.75mi from PNC Park.

Sheraton Station Square is a good possibility, as you will be right by the T-Station which will take you to downtown, also Station Square is where you can get the boats to go to PNC Park for a ballgame. You can also ride the incline there, and take the Ducky tour. Of course there are restaurants and some shopping at Station Square, as well. There's several good restaurants at the top of Mt. Washington, and you could get there just by riding the incline up the mountain from Station Square, plus you get the great views for your picture taking.
The Carnegie Museum is in Oakland, it would be worth taking a cab or bus and spending a day in that part of town, with that Museum, the Art Museum, also the sites of the universities.
