Pismo Beach area- is driving permitted on all the beaches?
Interested in spending a weekend in Pismo Beach area but not excited about cars on the beach. Is driving permitted on the whole thing or are there car-free areas? Grover Beach, Avila Beach? Thanks.

If you're referring to the Oceano Dunes State Recreational Vehicle Area, not even that entire area is open to vehicles. About half the beach, for instance, is closed to vehicles from March til October. Check out this pdf for info on that area:

As for anywhere else: "Oceano Dunes is the only California State Park where vehicles may be driven on the beach."

Yeah but it still is annoying. Unless you bring a car/bike/atv you can drive on the beach don't stay there. You can hear the noise for miles around.
I stay here when I go down that way...
It is not on the beach at all but out of the way and pretty...
