Barb, are you talking about the one in Seattle? If so I haven't had the opportunity to stay here as I live here but there are some reviews on this site: http://seattle.citysearch.com/review/11426823/<BR><BR>The location is in the historic area which is very close to Pike Place Market, downtown, the stadiums, etc. It is just blocks from the south end of the waterfront also.

Thanks Wendy. It is in Seattle and I just need it for one night - girls night out - we're coming down from Bellingham. The web page looked great and the location is perfect as we are taking the train and it looks very close to the train station. I will take a look at the reviews.

It's a pretty ordinary hotel in a not-so-great area. While the Pioneer Square area of Seattle is under restoration and some of it is quite attractive with some good restaurants and old bookstores (this is the old "skid road" district), it's a slow conversion and there are a few drunks and layabouts, etc around. SOME of the rooms are nice, but you'll pay extra. This is a 2-star hotel at best. While I was there, there was a commotion downstairs one night--a former employee had come in and was attempting a revenge-robbery of the front desk! This was a Best Western affiliation (no great advertisement in my opinion) when I stayed there. It may have changed.

Barb--I read the reviews on Wendy's recommendation. I note that three of the more enthusiastic ones are by CitySearch reps. I suspect they don't get out (of Seattle) much. While both terrifically enthusiastic and viciously negative reviews are always suspect, I would tend more to the "3"'s on this one rather than to the "10"). It's a 10-minute walk from the train station (I did it).

Thanks for the input. I think you are probably right about that area. I just wanted something near the Market and walking distance to some good restaurants, etc., and not too expensive. Any suggestions?

Barb, you should really try bidding on priceline as you can probably get a 4 star hotel downtown for around $40 or $50 dollars. Have you used it before? Look at www.biddingfortravel.com to see what others have gotten.

We stayed there in Feb. 2001. Room was small but clean, nice big bathroom. Great AM breakfast-lots of variety. Across street good Italian food plus great desserts. Starbucks one block, lots of shops and resturants along the way. I felt quite comfortable in this area. Staff very helpful. We sort of choose this property because of closeness to train station. It is now managed by Best Western

The Inn at the Market was a delight. Especially nice is the rooftop deck.

I love Inn at the Market, great location, rooms are small but beatiful, however since I retired I cannot afford $ 240 a night!!!!
