Pine Shadows Cabins-near Capitol Reef....
 

Has anyone ever stayed here? We've booked 2 nights (actually booked back in Feb!) to explore the Capitol Reef area. They have a nice website but would love to hear at least one 'real' review.

Sorry I can't help Maw. I've never hear of these "cabins" and I don't remember seeing them. Where are they supposed to be? "Near Capitol Reef" is pretty vague.

Well, we're heading out tomorrow on our southwest (Vegas-GC-Page-Bryce-Capitol Reef-Zion) journeys so we'll let you know how the cabins were! location is in Teasdale (sp?) near Torrey,here's the website www.pineshadowcabins.net

I actually did drive past this place a couple years ago on a short exploring detour through Teasdale. It's off the beaten path for sure, but looked like an ok place just driving by. Don't expect too much. I don't know if anyone in Teasdale will be 5* hosts in the tourist industry, but I'm sure they will be nice and helpful folks. Most rural Utahns are!

Have a great trip. I think you are hitting the weather just right. We've kind of been going back and forth between spring (rain and cold) and summer. But the weather is supposed to be summer for the next week!

Haven't done a trip report yet but did want to post how much we liked our little cabin...the peace and quiet(of course there were only 2 cabins occupied-might not be quite so peaceful if full), the wildlife, the stars, and the cabin itself was quite new,nice bathroom tile/slate,air conditioning, good kitchen area-everything you'd need (except no oven), the beds were compfy and everything spotlessly clean.
We loved having coffee on the little porch watching the morning light change on the white cliffs in back of the cabin-- and there were red cliffs in the distance in front of cabin. About a 20 minute drive to Capitol Reef.
Our only dissapointment was not being able to meet the owners, they were away for the weekend.
Would definitely recommend as a quiet laid back home base for exploring Capitol Reef area.

Thanks for reporting back. I just might try the place sometime. Usually I camp in the Capitol Reef campground, since it's one of the nicest of all.

How was the rest of your trip? Did you enjoy some hikes in the park?

That campground area looks wonderful! We were able to pick some apricots from an open orchard.
Did the Hickman Bridge hike--which actually took longer and was harder than it should be since we managed to take a wrong turn immediately and had to backtrack. The bridge was worth it, very impressive. Checked out the petroglyphs and then did the scenic drive to Capitol Gorge and hike into the gorge for a ways..was getting into mid/late evening and the lighting was gorgeous! We had the place to ourselves..that was one of my favorite things about Capitol Reef..VERY uncrowded. My 13 yr old daughter is in a choir and she had fun singing out to the canyons and listening to the resonance :). Didn't get back to our cabin til after dark so then it was a perfect time to stargaze.
