Pictures of Mt. Hood

Where would you say you can get the best most scenic pictures of Mt. Hood? Even if it is a pull off on a highway, I'd like to find a great location to get some pictures.

Thanks in advance

A couple of suggestions -

From the terrace at the U of O Medical School (use the gondola) in Portland: http://gardyloo.us/20100510_21b.jpg

And from the Hood River Valley, SR 35: http://gardyloo.us/20100509_85a.jpg

Try Mienig Park in Sandy. Near City Hall along US 26.
If you want a picture from the other side, you can try Madras.
Route 35 is probably too close to get a good picture.

There are several lakes near Mt. Hood where you can photograph the mountain reflected on the waters: Mirror Lake, Trillium Lake, Timothy Lake, Frog Lake..... But to get any of those shots, you'll need to be up early, before the slightest breeze sends riffles across the waters.

My best shot was from the above-mentioned Trillium Lake.

However, Panorama Point in Hood River is a good choice to give you the other side.

I've seen great calendar pictures from Lost Lake--not sure if you have to hike in. Caveat: there are 24 Lost Lakes in Oregon and they know where all of them are.

OK, I'll bite: "who is "they" ??"

(and do "they" impart this knowledge on the rest of the world?)

Depending on the weather and the flight path I have seen great views of Mt. Hood a few minutes before landing at PDX.
Try for a few pictures of Mt. Adams on the Washington side of the Columbia River.

I actually took an awesome photo of Mt. Hood from the plane window on my last flight home from Portland...and managed to delete it by accident!

Hoping to get another this time around from the plane!
