Picnic in Central Park
 

Travelling to New York in April and wanting to have a picnic in Central Park, can anyone recommend anywhere that sells ready made hampers with food and drink etc?

don't know of any ready made hampers...

when I do a picnic I go to Whole Foods, Trader Joes, or some other grocer with sandwiches and salad bar and make my own to my own taste...

It would be a very big waste to be stuck with a hamper if you are a tourist. It doesn't really serve any purpose versus a shopping bag anyway.

I agree, no "hamper". Have it packed in brown bags or a canvas tote.

Just shop at whatever great local deli (green grocer, Whole Foods, Trader Joes) is nearby.

Zabar’s is going to provide much more interesting food than Whole Foods or Trader Joes

I would totally get a sushi platter to go from Roy's fish market (here) maybe a bottle of wine or sake to accompany if you're feeling extra extra :)
