Picking up rental car at HNL
Hello all, a quick question about Honolulu Airport.
On the other Hawaiian islands, we've found it a real time saver to have one person make a beeline for the rental car place, then come back to the airport and get the other person who has been collecting the luggage. We are going to Oahu in 2 weeks (hooray) and are having a mental block about HNL; we can't remember if it's a good idea to do this there, or if driving back into the airport with the rental car will be too much trouble.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

Some of the rental places are right across the road from the baggage claim for United (inside the parking lot.
Others like Alamo and Thrifty are about 2 blocks away by shuttle. It is very easy to get back to the baggage area curb from any of the rental spots.

We split up and my husband picked up the car while my son and I grabbed the bags. I think we rented with Budget but it could have been Alamo and he arrived at the curb just as we wheeled the bags out!

We always gather our luggage first (only two of us) then while my wife waits outside the baggage claim area, I go get the car. It's a no-brainer coming back into the airport; it's something we've done since the early 90's
