Photos on the Internet

I know several of you have posted travel photos on various web sites. I would like to do that with my Alaska photos so my spread-out family and any Fodorites who are interested could see them. Unfortunately, I have no idea where or how.

Can any of you suggest a web site for me to do that on? Is there a cost? Is there a limit on the number of photos?

Thanks for your help.

Check out Kodakgallery.com It's totally free with no limit on the number of photos or albums you can up load or time . Also you can share with anyone for free. The best I've been able to find.

Check out www.worldisround.com. Very user friendly, lots of text and editing options, and you can even make each photo page public or email invite only viewing.

dwooden...worldisround.com was the most user friendly for me. There is a limit, but I don't remember what the limit is.

Yes, there is a limit on worldisround.com, but it's a pretty high limit and you can add more space for a small yearly fee.

I just went with worldisround.com and you get 50 megs free then you pay a small fee to upgrade $29.95 to be able to have more space and some other features. I love it.

I usually post my photos at www.dwooddon.com where I can also read a 100 posts on this same subject. It's free, costs nothing, and best of all, requires no advance fees.

Almost everyone: Thnaks for your input.

fehgeddaboudit: fehgeddaboudit!

Any others?

Have to agree that a person could pull up a dozen threads on this subject, Woody.

I can't answer your questions but I am waiting for your trip report. When?

MelissaHI Aug 27th, 2005 01:11 PM

I think I must have used them all....shutterfly, ofoto, imagstation.com.....but WorldisRound works well for me. I like that you can put captions and people can comment on either one photo or the whole album, plus you can put a narrative at the very beginning.

dwooddon Aug 27th, 2005 11:07 PM

Pat2003: Thanks for asking. I have already posted reports for parts of the trip. You can search on my screen name or look for threads titled "Mini trip report - Seward, AK" and "Mini trip report - Talkeetna, AK".

I was originally scheduled to be home tomorrow but taking off from Kodiak Island this afternoon, we hit a flock of birds and had to make an emergency landing. I can't get out of here now until tomorrow afternoon and it looks like I'll be able to get home Monday afternoon or Tuesday depending on how I am able to change the return reservations. I'll get a more comprehensive report posted within 2-3 days of returning home and, once I get the photos up on one or another of the sites, I'll also post a link to that.

Shucks! I'm marooned on Kodiak Island. Oh, well.

Pat2003 Aug 28th, 2005 04:11 AM

Dwooddon, I read your previous reports and that's why I asked about more of them. Just one thing, would you please post them together and not on separate threads. Thanks and looking forward to reding them. Good luck with getting your flights changed. I wouldn't mind being delayed on Kodiak if the weather was good for hiking.

I like Photoshare.com.
http://www.photoshare.co.nz/PhotoShareLogon.asp
You can try it free for 30 days. After that it's about $12 a year for 100 megs (which is a ton of images)

i've just run through all the sites mentioned above and several others. from a user point of view, webshots is best. yahoo and worldisround seemed ok. webshots allows the user to search by subject or photoposter name. the others all seem to require access info or are for developing not sharing.
enjoy your extended trip...

I just tried the Kodak gallery site, loaded one picture, put in emails of family and clicked a box not requiring them to have to log in to view anything, within minutes they were looking at my pic, free.

Thank you all for your advice. I picked Theworldisround web site and I posted a link to my photos in my Alaska-Yukon Trip Report.
